초록(영문)
This study investigated the effects of presumed media credibility and oraganization-reporter mismatch on job satisfaction in order to verify the influence of journalists’ distrust of the press on journalists. The presumed media credibility as an external factor and the rganization-reporter mismatch as an internal factor were set as independent variables, which affected job satisfaction, and job burnout was set as the mediator. To control the effects of other variables and examine the indirect effects, the equation model was analyzed. This study used the survey results of the 2017 Journalist Consciousness Survey by the Korea Press Foundation. The findings revealed that both the presumed media credibility and the organization-reporter mismatch directly affected job satisfaction and indirectly affected job burnout. The more negatively the public evaluated the media reports and the more journalists feel the discrepancy between the personal values of journalists and the principles actually practiced by the media, the more journalists suffered from job burnout and furthermore, the less satisfied they are with their jobs. This study found that the presumed media credibility had a significant direct and indirect effects on the job satisfaction of journalists. Findings showed that media credibility was not only factor in the cognitive dimension recognized by the public or journalists, but also had a social effect that affects the job of journalists through the presumed media credibility. Thus, it is expected to contribute to systematically understanding of the influence of the presumed media credibility and expanding the field of media credibility research.
